Coming Out - My Mother's Point of View // יציאה מהארון - נקודת מבט של אמא שלי

My mom is one of the most interesting people you could meet. Always optimistic and smiling, a really cool mom.

Although she hasn't been well (she had recovered from cancer twice), it would be hard for you to tell she's in any pain, instead you would only see smiles, jokes and laughter.

Recently, my mom has become quite active within the online gay community and I felt it could be a good time for her to talk, share some important messages, be a role model to other parents and to show there's a better way: one of acceptance, support, sharing and openness, which have lead my family into true happiness with so much love and giving. 

I'd like to dedicate this video to my dad, Arie Matalon, who was always so supportive of my mom and my family, so loving, caring and devoted.

"Kids should not be afraid of their sexual identities. It's not a choice. If you're hiding it you're miserable, you're not living your life.

Parents must understand that no matter what, your child is still the same even if they're coming out, it's not a different child. I say -- accept them, embrace them, because that's what they need -- love, warmth and understanding. Even if it's hard, that's ok.

If there are parents out there who want to talk about it or kids who have no one to talk to, I would gladly help them out."
